What are large pet urns? A large pet urn is a receptacle that can hold the cremated ashes of a larger sized pet and/or their personal items. These containers have ample space to accommodate medium to large dog breeds that weighed between 54 and 195 pounds, or up to 200 cubic inches of cremated ash. The general rule in sizing for urns is that for every pound of body weight, it is one cubic inch of ash. For a dog that weighed 150 lbs., the capacity of the pet urn would need to accommodate AT LEAST 150 cubic inches of ash.
