What is a cremation?
Cremation is the process of reducing human or pet remains to small particles, through intense heat. The entire process takes approximately three hours. First, the remains are exposed to flame and temperatures of up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately two-and-a-half hours. During the process almost all of the organic material is consumed by heat or evaporation. After cremation the remains are mechanically or chemically processed into a coarse, sand-like powder.
Do I need to purchase a casket for cremation?
No. However, for health and safety reasons, crematoriums require a secure, leak-proof, enclosed combustible container. It can be simple, made of cardboard, wood, or corrugated paper. A casket is sometimes used temporarily to hold a viewing of the body before cremation. Some funeral homes have caskets available for rent for formal memorial services.

What size urn should I buy?
Urns are sold by size, measured by the amount of ashes that each urn holds in cubic inches. One pound of human or pet weight equals one cubic inch of remains.Therefore, if your loved one weighed 150 pounds you will need an urn that will hold at least 150 cubic inches. Standard individual cremation urns are designed to hold 200 cubic inches of remains. The size of each urn in cubic inches is listed with the item’s description. Use the filters on the left of our collections page to refine your results based on weight.
Can I get my urn engraved?
Yes! Engraving makes the urn or keepsake even more personal. Most urns can be engraved with name, date, and an epitaph. Each product description will indicate whether the urn can be engraved. Each product would also indicate the number of characters allowed for engraving. Engraving styles and capabilities may vary over time. Please contact us with any questions.

Beautiful quality. I was worried it would be too big, but it all fit perfectly (my mother was probably under 100lbs and 5ft). I do wish there was some rubber gasket to keep the lid on tight though.

This is a beautiful urn, substantially made. The shape, size and floral motif are a perfect representation of my sister's taste. I learned from another review that it doesn't have a gasket around the lid but does come with superglue. Its being well-sealed was very important to 1 of our decision-makers. Beautiful. Exactly what I was looking for.
It arrived in very good condition because it was packaged very well. I was a little surprised that it is actually wooden with the decorative coating somehow applied to it. I like it. Included is a strong plastic bag for the actual ashes and a small tube of superglue I assume to glue the top on. This should work nicely and it’s very pleasant to look at. I might get an engraved plaque for the bottom of it.
I had to wait several years to afford an urn for my Chewy. This is perfect. He was a large dog and died of cancer. I had him cremated but didn't have the money for an urn. Now that I do I couldn't have found a better one than this. Thank you for having such a large selection.

I am completely pleased with every aspect of my purchase. Easy to order, confirmation email with package tracking, received it in 3 days with the free shipping, well padded and undamaged. Comes with a clear thick plastic bag with ties and small tube of superglue if you desire to permanently seal the lid. I used the plastic bag as a double bag for the cremains for added protection. The urn has a weight to it that makes it feel sturdy. Its simulated appearance of wood fooled the people at the engraving shop I took it to for making and mounting an engraved plate on it. Compliments all around from people on it's looks. I got the large even though I only have 110 cubic inches/5.5 pounds of cremains. This leaves me room in it to put the cremation certificate, death certificate, memorial pamphlet, pictures and other keepsakes as desired. Great service and product.
I purchased two urns one in Indigo for my husband who just passed away and a companion one in burgundy for myself when that time comes. I could not be happier with both of them. They are beautiful and as my husband was a landscaper he would be pleased with the lovely orchids that grace the outside of both of the urns. Just lovely.
The Indigo Orchid Cremation urn was just the right container for our loved one’s cremation remains. Since it sits on a shelf above my fireplace, it is not recognizable as a cremation urn since it’s shape is unusual and it looks like an oriental pot. Urn material is solid and size is was appropriate. While the rule of thumb seems to be one cubic inch per healthy pound of body weight, being generous with the size was better than being too small. It didn’t appear that the formula was correct in our situation. The urn shipped with a plastic bag for the cremation remains and super glue for gluing the top on if desired which I didn’t do. Shipping was amazingly quick and customer service was exceptional. Highly recommend One World Memorials.
