Imagine how this artform must have developed: a busy, but clean workshop, artisans and their apprentices bent over the tables at their work, furiously concentrating on the intricacies of design, working and learning their craft. The sound of fire and air rushing through huge bellows to create just the right shape in the metal. The quiet scrapings of the lacquer hitting the floor, revealing the bright metal beneath. A development that became the essence of design – creative skill turned to mastery.

That mastery is still present today in each of these memorial products. They are carefully shaped and cast in a strong bronze metal. The forms are then coated in a thick layer of black lacquer which dries when the solvent has evaporated, and can soften over time.
