What is a cremation?
Cremation is the process of reducing human or pet remains to small particles, through intense heat. The entire process takes approximately three hours. First, the remains are exposed to flame and temperatures of up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately two-and-a-half hours. During the process almost all of the organic material is consumed by heat or evaporation. After cremation the remains are mechanically or chemically processed into a coarse, sand-like powder.
Do I need to purchase a casket for cremation?
No. However, for health and safety reasons, crematoriums require a secure, leak-proof, enclosed combustible container. It can be simple, made of cardboard, wood, or corrugated paper. A casket is sometimes used temporarily to hold a viewing of the body before cremation. Some funeral homes have caskets available for rent for formal memorial services.

What size urn should I buy?
Urns are sold by size, measured by the amount of ashes that each urn holds in cubic inches. One pound of human or pet weight equals one cubic inch of remains.Therefore, if your loved one weighed 150 pounds you will need an urn that will hold at least 150 cubic inches. Standard individual cremation urns are designed to hold 200 cubic inches of remains. The size of each urn in cubic inches is listed with the item’s description. Use the filters on the left of our collections page to refine your results based on weight.
Can I get my urn engraved?
Yes! Engraving makes the urn or keepsake even more personal. Most urns can be engraved with name, date, and an epitaph. Each product description will indicate whether the urn can be engraved. The Cremation Photo Urn in Natural Wood is for myself as part of my pre-planning program, It matches my late wife's urn which is what I wanted. I am
disappointed with the engraving. Due to the fact the urn is for me, the date of birth should have been located left of center to allow a date of death to be added on the right side at a later date. When I placed my order and entered the date of my birth, I entered several blank spaces on the same line to allow room for the date of death to be added where the blank spaces were. Your website appeared to accept those blank spaces as I hit my space bar several times on my computer keyboard. Unfortunately, the date of birth was engraved in the center. Disappointed. Other than that, I like the urn.
Some reviews stated that the engraving was hard to read because of the light color of the wood. This was not an issue in my case. The engraving was beautifully done and easy to read. It is a beautiful piece. Very happy with my purchase. Shipping was quick.

The engraving was lovely and the box very pretty.
I love this urn, I bought the natural wood color one. My dad was a carpenter so this urn was super special for me to have. I also love that you can put a picture in it. The engraving is good for me. If you buy a darker wood color you can see the engraving better but I can see the engraving perfectly fine on the natural color one. If you need a special urn I definitely recommend this one!!
